JL Standard, a startup specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) content, announced on the 4th that it has launched a brand called 'Digital Mask' to address the issue of unethical misuse of deepfake technology.
Digital Mask is a trademark that positively reinterprets the name of deepfake technology, emphasizing ethical use. This trademark acts as a kind of watermark that proves that content created using AI technology was created based on the consent and consultation of all parties involved.
This watermark guarantees a transparent production process based on mutual agreement and trust between JL Standard, the AI content production company, the content production target, and the users. This trust-based watermark technology can be a powerful tool for increasing the reliability of content.
In addition, since this is a service that allows viewing and saving of content only to users (family members) who have been verified through thorough document screening in advance, it is fundamentally impossible for others to use individual services.
“Deepfake technology offers creativity and convenience, but it also carries the potential for serious misuse and abuse,” said a JL Standard official. “Digital Mask will build a trust-based AI content ecosystem and present a new paradigm for the future.”
Meanwhile, JL Standard is providing a memorial service called 'Soul Link' that utilizes AI technology. Soul Link is an application (app) service that restores the voice and image of the deceased using AI, helping the bereaved family relive their precious memories with the deceased at any time. It was designed with the highest priority given to personal privacy and ethics.
